To SLEEP or not to LIVE????

We are mostly awake for the longest hours due to our responsibilities either at home or at work. Our body gets tired and need time to rest and so Sleep is an essential part of our lives.
So how many hours of sleep do we need?
They say, for most adults, we need almost 7-8 hours to keep us going on the following day and to be able to fulfill our duties productively. Even our cell phone batteries dies and needs to be recharged to keep it working, cars get overheat and even home appliance runs bad if not given proper care, and so what more for our bodies.
Lack of sleep disrupts every physiologic function in the body. Physiologic studies suggest that a sleep deficit may put the body into a state of high alert, increasing the production of stress hormones and driving up blood pressure, a major risk factor for heart attacks and strokes. Moreover, people who are sleep-deprived have elevated levels of substances in the blood that indicate a heightened state of inflammation in the body, which has also recently emerged as a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes.

So, it’s still not too late to not take sleep for granted. We all love to be healthy, and so if your having troubles sleeping, you might as well consider consulting a doctor for proper treatment:).
